Business Car – MaaS: A buzzword or an integral part of a sustainable future?
Over the past few years, Mobility-as-a-service (MaaS) has been rapidly changing the transport industry and discussion about its wider adoption accelerated during the Covid pandemic. MaaS is understood as the integration of numerous modes of transport into a single mobility service that is available on demand. As sustainability has become more salient and the pandemic has brought about big changes to the way we travel, MaaS has an increasingly important role to play.
However, MaaS has become a corporate buzzword, and some in the industry still view it with scepticism. With this in mind, we know that MaaS solutions and micro-mobility with never be the only answer. There are some contexts where public transport networks are not fully developed, and circumstances where we cannot escape the need for cars. But, if we are serious about reaching net-zero, more must be done and MaaS is helpful in giving greater choice over transport choices, offering more flexibility, and providing incentives to use alternatives to cars.
