MHC Mobility’s European restructure with Novuna Vehicle Solutions
Wednesday 19th April 2023
In September 2022, we strengthened our position through a European restructure with Novuna Vehicle Solutions under Mitsubishi HC Capital UK PLC.
Undergoing a pivotal change at MHC Mobility, our European MHC Mobility businesses will be managed alongside Novuna Vehicle Solutions, under Mitsubishi HC Capital UK PLC. The move sees a combined fleet of over 140,000 vehicles under management, with 100,000 operated by Novuna Vehicle Solutions in the UK and around 40,000 vehicles managed by MHC Mobility in Europe.
As part of the restructure, we welcomed our new Managing Director of the European mobility group, Jon Lawes, to the business, with Simon Oliphant stepping down as MHC Mobility Europe’s CEO. We spoke to Jon about the restructure, their recent trip to Europe and the future of the mobility sector.
Jon has almost 30 years’ experience in the fleet and leasing industry, being appointed Managing Director of Novuna Vehicle Solutions (formerly Hitachi Capital Vehicle Solutions) in 2015. Under Jon’s leadership, the UK fleet grew from 65,000 vehicles in 2016 to over 100,000 vehicles in 2022 and is now one of the UK’s leading vehicles leasing providers. Jon is passionate about sustainability, providing a first class customer experience and supporting customers to transition to a net zero fleet.
In July, as part of his introduction to the European businesses, Jon accompanied Simon on a visit to Poland, Austria, Hungary, Czech Republic and Slovakia. More recently, he also visited the MHC Mobility offices in Germany and Belgium, as well as MHC Mobility Netherlands.
Jon, what were the highlights of your recent European trips?
“What struck me most during the visits to the MHC Mobility European offices was the resemblance that I felt with the Novuna Vehicle Solutions team in the UK. Both MHC Mobility and Novuna Vehicle Solutions have fantastic growth potential, and this restructure has provided us with a great opportunity, not only for expansion, but to work together to develop an even stronger proposition, meeting the mobility needs of our customers across Europe and the UK, as well as exploring new areas of innovation.
It’s amazing to work with people who take pride in what they do and are clearly passionate about sustainability and supporting customers in the transition to a net zero fleet.”
What are you most looking forward to in your new position?
“With the restructure comes an opportunity to work together. Each country has something unique to offer, and I look forward to working with the European teams to untap that potential, creating an environment where people want to achieve those things, together."
